Apaliros Castle (Apalirou) is a ruined Byzantine fortress perched on a rocky hilltop in central Naxos. Built in the early Byzantine period, it served as the island's capital and main defensive stronghold before the Venetians conquered Naxos in 1207 and moved the capital to Chora. The site offers panoramic views of the island and retains traces of walls, a cistern, and a small chapel.
