Apano Kastro (Upper Castle) is a ruined medieval fortress situated on a rocky peak above the Tragaia valley in central Naxos. The castle was the stronghold of the Sanudo dynasty during the Duchy of Naxos and later served as a refuge for the local population during pirate raids. Perched at an elevation of approximately 450 metres, the site commands views across the island's fertile interior and the Aegean Sea. Remains of walls, cisterns, and a chapel can still be seen among the rocks.
