The Ancient Temple of Dionysus at Yria is one of the earliest known temples dedicated to Dionysus in Greece, dating from the Mycenaean period through the 6th century BC. Located south of Naxos Town near the village of Gyroulas, the sanctuary underwent several building phases, with the final monumental temple constructed around 580-570 BC. Naxos held a special connection to Dionysus in Greek mythology, as the island where Theseus abandoned Ariadne and where the god found and married her.
