Agia Anna is a popular sandy beach on the western coast of Naxos, located between Agios Prokopios and Plaka. Grotta Beach is a small rocky beach in the Grotta district at the northern edge of Naxos Town, just below the archaeological site of the Mycenaean settlement. The area is notable for its submerged ancient ruins visible in the shallow water, remnants of a Bronze Age coastal settlement. While not a swimming beach in the traditional sense, it offers dramatic views of the Portara and sunset, and is a short walk from the heart of Chora.
Agios Georgios Beach is the main town beach of Naxos, stretching along the western shore of Chora within walking distance of the port and the old town. The long, shallow bay has calm waters sheltered from the meltemi wind, making it especially suitable for families with children. The beach is lined with hotels, tavernas, and cafes, and offers sunbed and umbrella rentals throughout the summer season.
Plaka Beach is a long stretch of golden sand on the western coast of Naxos, extending south from Agia Anna for several kilometres. It is one of the longest beaches on the island, with its southern end remaining largely undeveloped and backed by sand dunes and cedar trees. The shallow, clear waters and wide sandy expanse make it popular with families, while the quieter southern sections attract those seeking solitude.
