The Holy Monastery of Saint John Chrysostom on Naxos is described on Greek Orthodox religious-tourism coverage as the only monastery in Greece dedicated to St John Chrysostom—a women’s monastery on Grotta hill northeast of Chora (~3 km), with amphitheatrical Aegean views. Sources state continuous liturgical life since 1280 as a white fortress-like island complex (low timbered gate and machicolation from pirate times), a strong square tower with the Chapel of St Nicholas, and a katholikon with carved iconostasis and notable icons (including an 1818 enthroned Chrysostom icon). Local folklore cites 1606 foundation with renovations noted in 1753, 1757 and 1777 inscriptions.

Temple of Apollo (Portara)
The Temple of Apollo, or Portara (Greek: Πορτάρα, meaning 'large door'), was an ancient Greek temple in Naxos, dedicated to the god Apollo. The temple was constructed in the 6th century BC by the tyrant Lygdamis. It is located on the islet Palatia at the northern end of Naxos' harbor. This islet is commonly thought to correspond to the place where, in Greek Mythology, Theseus abandoned Ariadne, who was then abducted by Dionysus and his entourage. The islet is connected to the town of Naxos by a causeway built in 1919.

Zeus' Cave
The Cave of Zas, or Cave of Zeus, is an ancient Greek cave located on Mt. Zas on the island of Naxos. The cave was occupied from the Late Neolithic to Early Cycladic III periods. Due to the lack of crop processing residue found, archaeologists suggest that the cave was not used for year-round settlement, but for herding animals during the driest period of the year. Excavations of the cave were carried out in 1985-1986 and 1994.
